Nero 03:30
Took winter's place when it never came Frozen water, lost to sky Living the life feeling sort of triumphant about it You could be like Nero You Could Be Like Nero Couldn't you tell that I wasn't around, I was somewhere else, will I always be somewhere else? Everything was good, yeah it is yeah it wasn't, the best nor the worst I guess I won't ever leave this room Trumpets blow, triumphantly Oh frailty Oh could I be like you locked in hardened earth cold and scorched Manic and untamed Spores left eroding

Spore 04:29
Constant and contained you were the best dressed sweat and spit and shine Dancing, decaying you were the fiercest enemy of mine And I wasn't there when you told me how it felt, I was somewhere else and I'll always be somewhere else Left in the woods with the beasts and the burden, the trees and the turbulent seasons I won't leave this room Quietly waiting with the beleaguered and weird as you were saying there's no disease living here But couldn't you tell that I wasn't myself, I was someone else will I always be someone else? Everything was good til it turned out it wasn't, the pit in my stomach reliving the worst of it all Dancing, decaying Spores left unfolding Dancing, d caying S res le t unf ldi g D c ng, d ay i g S o s l t u o l d ig

Boar 03:45
Under bedsheets where we trade our conversations for a fast touch moving boulders from the cave maw resurrection on the way out I thought We'd Break This Town by now I figured we'd run out of bodies to fuel this alien weak obligation and show up elated and feigning affection But I'll never fake it I know 'cause I tried well out here the sunlight really shines like it means it not for beauty or romance but practical brightness I know nothing better I'm here for the weather I'm here for the cash and the lake and the contact I'm here for the crash and the kick and the hi hat the screams and the screaming the fucks and the fucks and the faux-pleasant evenings, the barenaked ceilings the transient, terrible moods we've been feeling the consummate teasing, the baggage, the bleeding the beaten and beatings, the beats and the beats and the bodies we reclaim over and over again I want to have the smoothest skin feel pretty like a mannequin shed my clothes and hair and skin I'll never be a man again

Lavender 04:11
Here in the lavender glow Of a thousand indoor billboards and overfed souls I was waiting for a call from the end of the world I was waiting by the station, empowered, alone I was waiting for the systems to stop gutting us always smiling Here on the cusp of darkness, forever trying dressed as the belle of the ball (you were always trying) yes, must be dead all along (you were always trying) Here in the afternoon glow of a thousand miles distances away from home I was waiting for a call from a friend maybe more I was waiting all alone, redesigned, bought and sold I was waiting for the windows to stop keeping the rain outside My skin is dried up, there's no comfort at all the belle of the ball, sedated and always smiling neutralizing rhythms I feel nothing at all Here in the lavender glow of a thousand indoor billboards and monied out souls I was waiting for a call from the edge of the world I was waiting at my station, empowered, alone I was waiting for the billboards to stop gutting us, always smiling fabricating reasons to feel something at all the belle of the ball was dead all along bumping like a hurricane, I can't keep my blood from gushing out When I filled my perscription with your comfort and progress we fell into a slumber feeling much less encumbered

about

IN THE FUTURE : : : a benevolent AI network saves us all from climate disaster by putting itself in charge of resource allocation. All the humans
get reorganized into one sprawling metropolis (Our Great City), and the rest of the planet becomes a meticulously cared for and off-limits nature reserve (The Wilderness).

The system works! We go about our days carefree, we interface with machines, our AI savior built us Our Great City free of poverty and hunger.
Our Great City is safe, and Our Great City is peaceful.

Of course, there are wild folk. Luddites who live in The Wilderness, suspicious of any machine. Either they're descendants of those who didn't make the transition during The Singularity, or they're defectors. The AI, which snakes through all forests, mountains, rivers, and plains, keeps a distant eye on them, but other than that we leave them alone.

Then one day, an explosion goes off in Our Great City. The next week, two more. There is no word from the AI on who is behind them.

People get hurt. People die. Our Great City becomes scared and uncertain.

"Earthflesh" is a collection of songs from the future. Songs from the citizens and machines of Our Great City, and songs from the nomads of The Wilderness.

Songs about about power and identity and alienation, performed by Bears & Children.
